Ukraine has to keep the procedures of the World Trade Organization when introducing import duties, that are foreseen by the Law on the stabilization of the balance of payments, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in December, 2014, stated the Chief of the European Union delegation Jan Tombinski on January 29.
Jan Tombinski also added that the decision on the duties introduction is a temporary and justifiable measure in the difficult economic situation, which demands coordination with the international institutions jet.
Remind that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law on the stabilization measures of the balance of payments #1562, that provides the temporary introduction of the extra import duties on the 100 commodity groups (at the interesting rate 5-10%) for 12 months period. Thus, according to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, import levy is going to be introduced after counseling with the representatives of the EU and IMF.
