During the first 5 months of 2014/15 MY (September-January) Ukraine already sold 45% of its sunflower oil export potential, which is estimated at 3.8 mln tonnes by experts of APK-Inform Agency, and supplied 1.7 mln tonnes of the commodity on foreign markets.
It should be noted that the reporting export volumes broke the record for Ukraine compared with the same periods of many previous seasons.
India was the main buyer of Ukrainian sunflower oil, and in September-January period the country received 701.1 thsd tonnes of the Ukrainian commodity or 41% of its general exports. Also, large-scale sunflower oil batches were shipped to China (168.1 thsd tonnes; 10%), Iran (153.3 thsd tonnes; 9%) and Turkey (110.4 thsd tonnes; 7%).
As a reminder, according to the USDA, Ukraine occupies the first position in the rating of sunflower oil exporters in the world, providing 55% of the global exports of the reporting commodity.
