According to the February estimations of the USDA, in 2014/15 MY the world grain production will total 1.98 bln tonnes, including 63.8 mln tonnes or 3.1% of Ukrainian grains. But despite the small-scale share of Ukraine in the world production, its share in the world exports of grains is quite significant. So, Ukraine exports more grains than the domestic market is able to process, which is typical for a very limited number of countries.
According to APK-Inform estimations, in 2014/15 MY the export volumes of grains from Ukraine can reach 34.3 mln tonnes, or 54% of the general production in the country (63.8 mln tonnes), or 10.1% of the world grain exports. Thus, the Ukrainian grain market is deeply integrated into the global trading community in the reporting market segment, with the market share of more than 10%, and is already able to influence the market environment.
