In July-January period of 2014/15 MY the export potential of wheat from the Black Sea region is realized at 82%, declared Svetlana Sinkovskaya, Marketing Director of APK-Inform Agency, on March 3 during her report at the Middle East Grain Congress -2015.

In the current season wheat export volumes from countries of the region were estimated at 34.5 mln tonnes (up 5% compared with 2013/14 MY), including 19.5 mln tonnes of Russian wheat, 11 mln tonnes - from Ukraine, and 4 mln tonnes - from Kazakhstan, said the expert.

According to her, in the first seven months of the current season the general volume of wheat exports from Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan in the 7 months of the current season totaled over 28 mln tonnes, up 20% compared with the same period in 2013/14 MY.

It should be noted that the season-14/15 showed the record export rates of wheat from Russia and Ukraine. Devaluation processes of the national currencies in both countries made export trading as one of the most attractive sales channels for wheat in the current season. So, in July-January period of 2014/15 MY Ukraine supplied 8.4 mln tonnes of wheat on foreign markets (up 22% compared with same period of 2013/14 MY), Russia exported 18 mln tonnes of the grain (up 35%), which became the record indices for both countries, said S.Sinkovskaya.

At the same time, the situation with wheat exports from Kazakhstan is somewhat different, because the high prices on the domestic market contributed to declining of competitiveness of Kazakh grains on the world market. During 7 months of 2014/15 MY Kazakhstan exported 2 mln tonnes of wheat (down 41% compared with the same period of 2013/14 MY).
