In the Ist and IInd quarters of 2015 Egypt will activate maize purchasing operations, declared Hany Younes, Middle East and North Africa Manager at AC VAN WELDEN, during his report at the Middle East Grain Congress in Egypt on March 3.
In the IIIrd and IVth quarters the Egyptian market will form a new strategy depending on the grain harvest in the USA and the Black Sea region. According to the experts, in 2014/15 MY Egypt will import nearly 7 mln tonnes of maize.
In 2014/15 MY the total supply of the grain on the Egyptian market will reach 15.28 mln tonnes, while the consumption - 13 mln tonnes. Thus the ending stocks will total nearly 2.28 mln tonnes, said H.Younes.
Also, the speaker noted that in 2014 Egypt imported 8.5 mln tonnes of maize. The share of Ukrainian maize in the structure of the grain imports reached 27% (2.35 mln tonnes).
