According to State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, in 2014 four main ports of the country - the sea port Yuzhnyi, Odessa, Nikolaev and Illichivsk sea ports - shipped 81.4% of the general grain cargoes supplies, declared Volodymyr Klymenko, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, on March 24 within the Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress in Washington, D.C.

It should be noted that grain cargoes form rather significant share in the structure of general cargo shipments from the reporting ports. Thus, in 2014 grain cargoes formed 19% the general cargo turnover of the port Yuzhnyi, and in the Nikolaev sea port the index totaled 33% of the general cargo shipments, said the expert.

He noted that the port infrastructure plays the key role in ensuring the export trading of Ukrainian grains.

So, in the period of July-January of 2014/15 MY the sea ports shipped 98.4% of the export batches of Ukrainian wheat, 99.6% of barley, and 98.1% of corn. Therefore, the further development of the segment is one of priorities for the domestic agro-industrial complex, summed up the President of Ukrainian Grain Association.
