In March 2015, Russia increased grain export volumes to 1.78 mln tonnes, against 1.24 mln tonnes supplied on foreign markets in the previous month, declared Igor Pavensky, Deputy Director of the strategic management department of Rusagrotrans CJSC, on April 7.

In March there was observed some growth of the shipped volume for all major crops. In particular, Russia exported 534 thsd tonnes of wheat, against 461 thsd tonnes in February. Barley exports increased to 734 thsd tonnes, against 410 thsd tonnes, maize - 440 thsd tonnes, against 302 thsd tonnes, the expert added.

Also, I.Pavensky noted on changing of the geography of Russian grain exports in March.

Saudi Arabia, which is the world known importer of barley, became the main country-importer of Russian grains in the reporting month, and purchased 499 thsd tonnes of grains, or 28% of the general export volumes in March. Turkey occupied the second position in the rating - 449 thsd tonnes (25%), Iran took the third position - 205 thsd tonnes (12%), said the expert.

As for the prospects of grain exports from Russia in April, I.Pavensky noted that the export volumes are forecasted at 1.2 mln tonnes, including nearly 400 thsd tonnes of wheat, 500 thsd tonnes of barley, and 300 thsd tonnes of corn.
