As of May 5, agrarians of Russia planted spring crops throughout the areas of 12.5 mln ha (24.1% of the forecast), as opposed to 15.3 mln ha on the same date last year. In particular, spring grain planted areas reached over 7.2 mln ha, or 23.3% of the forecast (in 2014 - 9.5 mln ha), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
According to the announcement, Russia planted spring wheat throughout 991.7 thsd ha (7.5% of the plan), spring barley – 3.5 mln ha (42.7%), corn for grain - 1.3 mln ha (47.4%), and rice — 59.2 thsd ha (27.6%).
Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 2 mln ha, or 29.8% of the forecast, spring rapeseed – 159.8 thsd ha (17.2%), and soybeans – 261.6 thsd ha (12.7%).
Russian agrarians provided additional fertilizing of winter crops areas throughout 11.3 mln ha, or 67% of the autumn planted areas.
