On May 15, Petr Chekmarev, Director of the department of plant growing and protection at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, noted that the condition of winter crops areas in 2015 is quite favorable. In 2015, the harvest volumes of winter grains in Russia will total 40-45 mln tonnes.
According to him, the situation is rather favorable for winter crops, because in the autumn the Ministry forecasted losses of 3.5 mln ha of winter crops, but the spring weather adjusted the expectations, and the losses totaled 1.3 mln ha only.
