The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia expects for the general grain harvest in the current year at 100 mln tonnes, declared Alexander Tkachev, Minister of Agriculture, on May 20.
According to him, if the state funding level remains at the same level, Russia will provide grain production at 100 mln tonnes, sugar beet - 37 mln tonnes, and sunflower seed - 9 mln tonnes.
Also, A.Tkachev said that to date, agrarians planted spring crops throughout 60% of the planned areas in the whole country.
Only the Volga, Siberian, and Ural Federal Districts showed some delay of the planting terms, due to the weather conditions - heavy rainfalls. But the Minister believes that agrarians will manage to plant spring crops in the reporting Districts in optimum terms.
