In the nearest future, inspectors from the People's Republic of China should draw up the protocol, specifying the conditions which Ukraine will have to fulfill in order to realize sunflower meal exports to China. Under favourable conditions, Ukraine will be able to pass through all required procedures and to start exporting the commodity to China by the end of 2015, declared Vadim Tchaikovsky, Deputy Head of plant quarantine department at the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, on May 25.
In turn, Stepan Kapshuk, General Director of the Association Ukroliyaprom, stressed that domestic companies-producers are interested in supplying of sunflower meal on the Chinese market.
According to him, in 2013/14 MY sunflower meal production in Ukraine totaled 4.5 mln tonnes. But in the current MY, the index is expected to reach 4.1 mln tonnes, due to reduction of sunflower seed harvest volumes.
The domestic market basically consumes nearly 500-600 thsd tonnes of the meal. The remaining volumes are exported. Ukraine exports 70% of the commodity to Europe and Turkey, and the general number of countries-importers totals 53, said S.Kapshuk.
