Russia: Rusagrotrans lowered its forecast of the general grain harvest

Experts of the Analytical Center of Rusagrotrans CJSC lowered their forecast of the general grain harvest in Russia to 98 mln tonnes, as opposed to the previous level of 99.5 mln tonnes.

According to Igor Pavensky, Deputy Director of the strategic management department of Rusagrotrans, in the southern regions the weather conditions for harvesting campaign were somewhat better than expected, the moisture and heat provision was at the sufficient level, but in the Volga region the drought impact damaged the grain areas.

In particular, Rusagrotrans increased the forecast of grain harvest for the south of Russia to 25.9 mln tonnes, including the Southern Federal District - 25.9 mln tonnes, the North Caucasian District - 10.7 mln tonnes.

At the same time, the forecast of grain harvest in the central regions of the Russian Federation was reduced to 23 mln tonnes, against 23.7 mln tonnes of the previous forecast. Rusagrotrans reduced the forecast of harvest in the Volga region to 16.5 mln tonnes, as opposed to 18.6 mln tonnes of the previous level, said I.Pavensky.
