In 2014/15 MY, the Ukrainian market of barley showed active rates of export trading, and expansion of the geography of foreign supplies. In particular, Ukraine began delivering the grain to China, and increased the export rates with other Asian countries.

So, in May 2015, the country exported more than 111.1 thsd tonnes of barley, but Saudi Arabia - the traditional buyer of Ukrainian barley – for the first time dropped to the third position in the list of importers, and Japan topped the list of importers, and purchased almost 33 thsd tonnes of the grain, or 29% of the general exports in the reporting month. In May, Saudi Arabia imported over 25 thsd tonnes of Ukrainian barley, or 22% of the grain supplied volumes.

Since the beginning of the season (November-May), Ukraine exported 4.46 mln tonnes of barley, an increase of 81% compared with the shipment volumes in 2013/14 MY (2.47 mln tonnes).

It is expected that Ukrainian grain traders will continue developing the Asian market, and increase supplying of barley and other grains volumes towards the reporting direction.

You can become acquainted with more detailed information about the prospects of Ukrainian grain exports at the first round of the Ukrainian Agrarian Congress, to be held in Kiev on October 15-16, 2015.
