According to the official statistics data, in October-May of 2014/15 MY the shipment volumes of corn from Ukraine to China exceeded 2.9 mln tonnes, or nearly 18% of the general exports of the grain in the reporting period (16.1 mln tonnes).
At the same time, Ukrainian corn formed the major share of the Chinese imports, which the USDA experts estimated at the level of 3 mln tonnes in the current MY. The USDA forecasted the same volume of corn supplies for 2015/16 MY. Keeping of corn supplies to China at the stable level will provide to Ukraine the status of the major country-supplier of corn.
As a reminder, in 2013/14 MY Ukraine supplied just 383.3 thsd tonnes of corn to China, and in January-May of 2014 - 158.5 thsd tonnes. But in January-May of 2015, the supplies of Ukrainian corn to China exceeded 1.8 mln tonnes.
