In January-May of 2015, Russia increased grain export volumes by 0.8% compared with the same period of the previous year - to 8.153 mln tonnes, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on July 22.

According to the announcement, in the reporting period wheat and meslin formed the basis of grain export supplies – 3.645 mln tonnes, down 18.9% compared with the same period last year. The exports of barley increased in 4 times, to 1.978 mln tonnes, and rice – up 86.4%, to 98.5 thsd tonnes.

As for the export volumes of other plant growing commodities from Russia, the volume of foreign supplies of wheat and wheat-rye flour almost doubled - to 88.5 thsd tonnes.

At the same time, in January-May of 2015, there was observed some decline of corn exports - down 28.5%, to 1.601 mln tonnes, and sunflower seed - down 46.7%, to 36.5 thsd tonnes.
