In the current season, Russia will supply no more than 28 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, as opposed to 31.95 mln tonnes in 2014/15 MY, announced Igor Pavensky, Deputy Director of the strategic management department of Rusagrotrans CJSC, on July 22.

He reminded that the previous forecast of Rusagrotrans on grain exports in 2015/16 MY totaled 30-32 mln tonnes.

Significant revaluation of grain carry-over stocks as of July 1 - to 12.3 mln tonnes, against 14.8 mln tonnes, became the main reason for reduction of the forecast. So, increasing of coarse grain consumption, slowdown of the traditional falling of food consumption, as well as cancellation of the export duties on wheat exports in the period of May 15 - June 30, were the major drives for such stocks formation.

In particular, in the period after cancellation of the reporting duties and until the end of the season, Russia exported 1.7 mln tonnes of grains, up 1.8 times compared with the same period in the previous MY.

According to the expert, as of the beginning of July, the public intervention fund stocked 1.88 mln tonnes of grains from the general stocks of 12.3 mln tonnes, and the open market - nearly 10.47 mln tonnes.
