The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine forecasted the export volumes of grains in 2015/16 MY at the level of 35 -40.5 mln tonnes, declared Yaroslav Cherevichny, Head of the market monitoring, economic analysis and agrarian statistics division at the Department of agricultural strategy and economic development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, on July 28.

According to him, in 2015/16 MY the general grain production is expected to reach 59.1 mln tonnes, the carry-over stocks - 10.3 mln tonnes. Thus, the total supply of grains is estimated at 69.4 mln tonnes per season.

Ya.Cherevichny stressed that the domestic consumption of grains in 2015/16 MY will decrease by 3 mln tonnes - to 24 mln tonnes. In particular, due to the situation in Donetsk oblast, the forecast decreased by 1.1 mln tonnes, due to Lugansk oblast – down 440 thsd tonnes.

In the season-2015/16, the export volumes of wheat will reach 13.4 mln tonnes, and the index can increase by 2 mln tonnes in case of development of new markets for Ukrainian feed wheat. Also, it is expected to supply 2.9 mln tonnes of barley, 19.8 mln tonnes of corn (possibly increasing to 21 mln tonnes) on foreign markets.

If the ratio of milling and feed wheat volumes totals 60 to 40%, the export volumes are expected to reach 8.3 mln tonnes and 5 mln tonnes (perhaps, up 2 mln tonnes) respectively, he added.

The prospects for development of export trading with grains and their by-products will become the key topic within the first round of the Ukrainian Agrarian Congress, to be held in Kiev, on October 15-16.
