In case of favorable weather conditions at the end of summer and beginning of autumn, in 2015 the general grain harvest in Russia may exceed the previously forecasted level by 1.5-2 mln tonnes, and reach 101.5-102 mln tonnes, declared Alexander Tkachev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, on August 3.
At the same time, A.Tkachev said that the wheat production in 2015/16 MY will total 58 mln tonnes, barley - 17.5 mln tonnes, corn - nearly 12 mln tonnes. The Minister estimated the potential grain exports in the current season at the previous season level - nearly 30 mln tonnes.
As for the price situation on the domestic grain market, the Minister said that the officials are "closely monitoring the price dynamics on the grain market".
In case of price reduction due to external factors, the Ministry will turn on the mechanism of purchasing interventions, in order to balance the average acceptable price for grains. In the current season, the intervention fund will reach more than 2 mln tonnes, said A.Tkachev.
