Ukrainian agrarians harvested over 30.1 mln tonnes of grains, or nearly 50% of the forecasted production volumes in the current year, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, on August 3.

According to the Minister, as of the reporting date Ukraine harvested early grains and pulses throughout the areas of 8.7 mln ha, or 85% of the plan. The average yield totaled 3.46 t/ha (at the level of 2014).

In particular, agrarians harvested wheat throughout 5.9 mln ha (86%). The production volumes totaled 22 mln tonnes, with the yield of 3.74 t/ha.

Agrarians harvested 7.4 mln tonnes of barley throughout 2.5 mln ha (90%), with the yield of 2.94 t/ha.

Agrarians harvested rye throughout 82 thsd ha (55%). The produced volumes totaled 202 thsd tonnes, with the average yield of 2.48 t/ha.

Also, Ukraine harvested 115 thsd tonnes of oats throughout 56 thsd ha (26%), with the yield of 2.13 t/ha.

The peas production volumes reached 368 thsd tonnes, with the yield of 2.24 t/ha. The harvested areas totaled 164 thsd ha (97%).

As for rapeseed, agrarians harvested 1.6 mln tonnes of the oilseed throughout 626 thsd ha (91%), with the average yield of 2.53 t/ha.

According to the current analysis of crops condition, moisture content in the soil, etc., the expected grain harvest in 2015 in Ukraine will total nearly 60 mln tonnes, which will completely satisfy the domestic needs and food security of the country, and keep the good potential of resources for supplying on foreign markets, specified the Minister.

In addition, as of August 3 the following oblasts showed the largest harvest results: Odessa oblast (2.9 mln tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk oblast (2.7 mln tonnes), Zaporozhye oblast (2.5 mln tonnes), Mykolaiv oblast (2.4 mln tonnes), Kherson and Kharkov oblasts (2.3 mln tonnes each).
