Russia: as of August 1, grain stocks totaled 29 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of August 1, 2015, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 28.9 mln tonnes, a decrease of 1.8 mln tonnes (or down 6.1%) compared with the index on the same date in 2014, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on August 18.

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations decreased by 10.1% compared with August 1, 2014 – to 19.4 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 3.2% - to 9.5 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations — 7.402 mln tonnes, up 1.8% compared with the same period last year, including milling wheat – 5.31 mln tonnes (at the level of August 2014).

Barley stocks grew to the level of 1.09 mln tonnes (up 22.3%), and corn – 419 thsd tonnes (up 58.3%).

At the same time, rye stocks totaled 438 thsd tonnes, down 23.8% compared with the previous year index, including milling rye – 385 thsd tonnes (down 14.3%). Also, buckwheat stocks faced a decrease to 21 thsd tonnes (down 30.5%), rice - 6 thsd tonnes (down 66.3%), millet – 5 thsd tonnes (down 70%), and oats - 90 thsd tonnes (down 17.1%).
