The planted areas of winter crops for the harvest-2016 in Russia will exceed 17 mln ha, declared Petr Chekmarev, Director of the Department of plant growing, chemicalization and plant protection at the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, on August 21.
At the same time, he added that the reporting index will not break the record.
According to him, in some previous years Russia planted winter grains throughout 19-20 mln ha, but the Ministry plans to reach even higher indices for the winter crops planting in the nearest future, said P.Chekmarev.
