According to APK-Inform analysts, good harvest volumes of wheat in Ukraine in 2015 and high carry-over stocks of the grain in 2014/15 MY, can provide the export potential of the grain in 2015/16 MY at the level of 12.5 mln tonnes.
So, the analysts estimated the general wheat harvest in Ukraine in 2015 at 25.1 mln tonnes in clean weight, an increase of 4% compared with last year (24.1 mln tonnes). At the same time, in the beginning of the season the grain carry-over stocks totaled 5.1 mln tonnes, which provided the total supply of wheat at 30.2 mln tonnes (up 7% compared with the previous season). The domestic consumption of wheat in Ukraine in 2015/16 MY is estimated at 12 mln tonnes, against 12.1 mln tones in the previous season.
So, in terms of increasing of the total supply of wheat and reduction of the domestic consumption, the export potential will reach 12.5 mln tonnes, which realization will ensure accumulation of the carry-over stocks at the end of 2015/16 MY at 5.7 mln tonnes, said Andrei Kupchenko, grain market analyst of APK-Inform.
