In 2014/15 MY, Ukraine exported 257.5 thsd tonnes of wheat flour, which became the absolute record for Ukrainian flour market. At the same time, the country realized nearly 41% of the commodity supplies to the countries of East Asia. Generally, last season three countries - China, North Korea and South Korea - purchased 40% of Ukrainian flour export volumes.
Also, it should be noted that the share of East Asian countries in the imports of flour from Ukraine increased compared with the indicators of 2013/14 MY, when the reporting region received 28% of the general export volumes of flour per the season, or 42.9 thsd tonnes in absolute terms, against 105.9 thsd tonnes in 2014/15 MY.
The East Asian market is quite promising for the Ukrainian flour milling products, and domestic millers and traders started actively conquering the market. For example, in 2014/15 MY the commodity exports to China increased in 2.2 times compared with the index of 2013/14 MY (61.6 thsd tonnes, against 28.4 thsd tonnes), North Korea – up 3.2 times (36.8 thsd tonnes, against 11.4 thsd tonnes), and South Korea – up 30 times (4 thsd tonnes, against 0.1 thsd tonnes).
