Ukraine started harvesting corn and soybeans

Ukraine started the harvesting campaign of corn and soybeans, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on August 31.

According to him, Ukraine harvested corn throughout the areas of 5 thsd ha, and produced 21 thsd tonnes of the grain, with the average yield of 4.2 t/ha (in 2014 – 2.83 t/ha).

As for soybeans, agrarians harvested the oilseed throughout 77 thsd ha. The oilseed produced volumes reached 141 thsd tonnes, with the average yield of 1.84 t/ha.

Also, O.Pavlenko reminded that Ukrainian agrarians continued harvesting sunflower seed. As of August 31, Ukraine already harvested 110 thsd tonnes of the oilseed throughout 55 thsd ha. The average yield totaled 1.99 t/ha.

As for late grains, Ukraine harvested buckwheat throughout 63 thsd ha (48% of the planned areas). The production volumes totaled 76 thsd tonnes, with the yield of 1.21 t/ha. Also, agrarians harvested 153 thsd tonnes of millet throughout 77 thsd ha (71%), with the yield of 2 t/ha.

Agrarians prepared the soil throughout 6.3 mln ha (76%) for the planting campaign of winter crops. As of the reporting date, agricultural producers planted winter rapeseed throughout 258 thsd ha (31%).
