In July-August, Ukraine increased grain exports to 6.2 mln tonnes – O.Pavlenko

Since the beginning of the new MY, Ukraine exported and prepared for exports nearly 6.2 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 24% compared with the same period last year, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on September 1.

According to him, in July-August of the previous year the volume of grain exports from Ukraine totaled nearly 5 mln tonnes.

O.Pavlenko added that the Ministry realizes constant contacting with grain producers and traders. The Ministry officials hold monthly meetings, review supply and demand balances every week, analyze all macro-indices. The officials know where and which ports are loading vessels, which facilities require rail cars, etc.

In addition, O.Pavlenko noted that in 2020, Ukraine expects to increase the volume of wheat and corn exports to 40 mln tonnes, as opposed the current index 36.4 mln tonnes, and increase the general grain production volumes to 80 mln tonnes, against 60 mln tonnes, forecasted for the current season.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasted the general grain harvest in Ukraine in the current year at nearly 60 mln tonnes, and the exports - 36.4 mln tonnes.
