The structure of flour production in Ukraine remains quite stable during many recent years. According to the official data, in 2014 the general volume of flour production in Ukraine totaled 2.35 mln tonnes, and the share of wheat and wheat-rye flour reached 93.2%, or 2.19 mln tonnes, rye flour - nearly 6.1%, or 143 thsd tonnes, and flour from other raw materials - only 0.7%, or 16 thsd tonnes, declared Rodion Rybchinskiy, Director of the Association "Millers of Ukraine”, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, on September 24 during his speech at the conference "Flour & Groats: raw materials, market, technologies".
Also, the expert noted that corn became the major "niche" raw material for flour production.
However, despite rapid increasing of the general corn harvest in Ukraine, the production of corn flour usually shows negative dynamics. During 5 recent years, the production volumes in the country decreased by 40% - to 10.9 thsd tonnes in 2014, against 18.1 thsd tonnes in 2010, summed up R.Rybchinskiy.
