Ukrainian flour producers will face some difficulties to completely enter the European market of grain milling commodities, declared the FAO expert, Peter Talks on September 24 at the conference "Flour & Groats: raw materials, market, technologies" in Kiev.

To date, the flour market in the EU is estimated at nearly 35 mln tonnes per year. In terms of such indices, the import volumes are rather modest. For example, in 2014 the markets of European countries imported 42 thsd tonnes of flour only, said the expert.

As for the exports of European flour, according to the FAO data, during 20 recent years the EU started reducing the index.

EU flour millers gave up the foreign market to the Turkish competitors, and lost large-scale shares of the markets in North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Therefore, decreasing of the flour exports increases its supply volumes on the domestic EU market, and reduces the demand for its imports from other countries, said P.Talks.
