Russia: as of November 1, grain stocks exceeded 43 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of November 1, 2015, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 43.7 mln tonnes, an increase of 0.6 mln tonnes (or up 1.6%) compared with the index on the same date in 2014, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on November 17.

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 2.8% compared with November 1, 2014 – to 29.2 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations decreased the rate by 1.4% - to 14.5 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations — 10.267 mln tonnes, up 4.8% compared with the same period last year, including milling wheat – 7.475 mln tonnes (up 5.2%).

Barley stocks lowered to the level of 1.76 mln tonnes (down 26.2% compared with the previous year index), and rye - 516 thsd tonnes (down 32%). Also, rice stocks faced a decrease to 172 thsd tonnes (down 6.6%), millet – 18 thsd tonnes (down 47.3%), and oats - 143 thsd tonnes (down 20.5%).

At the same time, corn stocks grew to the level of 1.46 mln tonnes (up 20.9% compared with November 1, 2014), and buckwheat - 81 thsd tonnes (up 32.1%).
