PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia to join to the Trans-Caspian transport route

PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia is ready to join to development of cargo shipment via the Trans-Caspian international transport route China-Europe using Ukrainian transport infrastructure, declared the General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia, Alexander Zavgorodniy on November 16 at the round table discussion with representatives of the railway administrations of Ukraine and Kazakhstan, maritime administrations and large-scale transport and logistics operators of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia.

In turn, the Managing Director on logistics at State Enterprise Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Arman Sultanov noted that the President of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Askar Mamin launched the project. The route is designed for increasing the transit potential of the Caspian region countries, and integration of the direction to the transportation network of goods between Europe and Asia.

In July 2015, the parties launched the first container train Nomad Express on the route of China (Shihezi) - Kazakhstan (Dostyk- port Aktau) - Azerbaijan (Kishly). The train passed the distance of 4`726 km in just 6 days.

In late November, the parties together with the Chinese party will organize the container service Nomad Express on the route of China - Kazakhstan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkey (Istanbul).

To date, there is worked out the possibility of delivering goods via the Trans-Caspian route through Ukraine and further to Europe, and vice versa.

Also, development of the Trans-Caspian transport route focuses on realization of the strategy program "Ukraine-Kazakhstan for 2015-2017 period", signed by the heads of Kazakhstan and Ukraine in October 2015.
