The phytosanitary service of Kazakhstan has to impose international standards in order to increase the export supplies of Kazakh commodities, declared the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Asylzhan Mamytbekov on February 19.

According to him, Kazakhstan should become an active member of the international phytosanitary community. There are relevant international organizations, it is necessary to actively participate, influence and, most importantly, establish international standards, said the head of the Ministry.

He noted that Kazakhstan should expand its available line of contracts for commodity exports. For example, to date there are no proven phytosanitary certificates for exports of buckwheat and other crops which are on sale and can be in demand on foreign markets. Therefore, the main task of phytosanitary committee is to establish pathways for business to increase the export opportunities, said A.Mamytbekov.
