According to APK-Inform data, in the current season many Russian agricultural producers cut down rye production volumes, and reoriented to growing of other crops. Lowering of demand for the grain and rather low profitability of rye production became the major reasons for such situation development.

So, in 2015 the planted areas under rye in Russia fell to the minimum index for the country – 1.291 mln ha, against 1.875 mln ha in the previous year. Also, the general harvest of rye in the country decreased, and totaled 2.086 mln tonnes, due to reduction of the planted areas and rye yield indices.

At the sme time, participants of the Russian market of rye noted that the reporting decline of grain production and the lack of supply caused the record high prices for Russian rye in the current season.
