As of April 18, Russian agrarians started planting soybeans. The oilseed planted areas reached 20.9 thsd ha, or 0.9% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Also, agrarians planted spring crops throughout the areas of 5.7 mln ha, or 10.9% of the forecast (52.6 mln ha), which significantly exceeded the index on the same date last year (3.7 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 3.5 mln ha, or 11.3%, as opposed to 2.3 mln ha in 2015.

In particular, the Southern Federal District planted spring crops throughout 2.2 mln ha (34.7% of the plan), the North Caucasian District – 711.4 thsd ha (39.4%), the Central District – 2.3 mln ha (24.9%), the Far Eastern District – 124.4 thsd ha (6.8%), the Volga District – 200.3 thsd ha (1.3%), the Crimean District – 213.7 thsd ha (85.8%), and Kaliningrad oblast – 38.5 thsd ha (44%).

Agrarians of Russia planted corn for grain throughout 617.4 thsd ha, or 20.6% of the planned index, sunflower seed — 748.3 thsd ha, or 10.8% of the forecast, spring rapeseed — 29.5 thsd ha, or 3.2%.

Agrarians realized additional fertilizing works throughout the general areas of 10.3 mln ha (62.7% of the planted areas).
