As of May 10, Russian agrarians planted spring crops throughout the areas of 20.4 mln ha, or 38.8% of the forecast (52.6 mln ha), which significantly exceeded the index on the same date last year (16.1 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 12.4 mln ha, or 39.8%, as opposed to 9.6 mln ha on the same date in 2015, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 3 mln ha (22.5% of the forecast), spring barley — 4.9 mln ha (60.3%), corn for grain - 1.8 mln ha (58.6%), and rice – 45 thsd ha (22.1%).
Also, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout over 3.3 mln ha (46.9%), spring rapeseed — 302.2 thsd ha (33%), soybeans – 456 thsd ha (20.6%), and flaxseed — 13.2 thsd ha (25.6%).
