In January-March period of 2016, the deficit of foreign trade with goods in Ukraine totaled 961.3 mln USD, an increase of 10.6 times compared with the same period last year (90.2 mln USD), reported the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on May 16.

In January-March, the exports of commodities from Ukraine totaled 7.719 bln USD, down 18.5% compared with the first quarter of 2015. The import volumes of goods to Ukraine totaled 8.68 bln USD (down 9.3%). The export-import coverage ratio reached 0.87 (in January-March of 2015 – 0.99).

In the first 3 months of 2016, the volume of Ukrainian commodities exports to the EU decreased by 2.7% compared with the same period in 2015 - to 3.197 bln USD, which totaled 41.4% of the general export flow. The imports of EU commodities decreased by 1.2% - to 3.861 bln USD, or 44.5% of the general purchased volumes.

The export volumes of goods to Russia decreased by 38.3% - to 649.9 mln USD, the imports – down 45.6%, to 1.021 bln USD.
