In 2016, the general grain harvest in Russia will be comparable with the average indices during 5 recent years, declared the Head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia (Roshydromet), Alexander Frolov on May 20.

According to him, the harvest expectations are very good. The harvest volumes will not be worse than last year, and they were quite acceptable. The index will vary within the range of 102-105 mln tonnes, said A.Frolov.

Only in some regions of Russia (the Volga region, and the center of the European part), the harvest volumes may reduce due to the lack of water.

But the general moisture content is quite sufficient, and there will be no drought in the European part of Russia, which is the main region-producer of grains. Also, Roshydromet expects for very good harvest results in the North Caucasus - in Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais.
