According to preliminary estimations, in 2016 Ukraine will harvest nearly 26.5 mln tonnes of winter grains, as opposed to 29.6 mln tonnes last year, declared the Ukrainian hydrometeorological center on May 27.

Taking into account the current condition of crop areas, the available reserves of productive moisture content in the soil, and the expected weather conditions, in accordance with the agrometeorological calculations, in the current year the yield of winter wheat is expected at the level of 3.96 t/ha, winter rye – 2.48 t/ha, barley – 3.25 t/ha, the forecast said.

Also, it is noted that in 2016, ripening of winter crops will take place in 1-2 weeks earlier than the standard terms, due to very early spring processes.
