In August 2016, grain export volumes from Russia will reach 3.5 mln tonnes, as opposed to previously forecasted index of 3-3.1 mln tonnes. But on the same month last year, the exports totaled 4.2 mln tonnes, announced the Deputy Director of the strategic management department at Rusagrotrans CJSC, Igor Pavensky on August 17.

According to him, the exports developed in such way, due to lowering down of sale rates by grain producers and quite slow growth of export prices.

However, I.Pavensky believes that in the following months the export rates will continue growing, due to the increased shipments of feed and milling wheat (with 11-11.5% protein content).

Also, the expected gradual rising of export prices for Russian wheat will have to increase the supply volumes of the grain. In addition, in the current season there is expected some increased interest of importers in the Russian grain, due to the forecasted decline of high-quality wheat supply in the EU, the analyst added.
