Ukraine harvested over 38 mln tonnes of grains - Ministry of Agrarian Policy

As of August 29, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 38.266 mln tonnes of grains and pulses throughout the areas of 9.793 mln ha, or 68% of the plan. The average yield totaled 3.91 t/ha, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. At the same time, on the same date last year the production volumes reached 37.106 mln tonnes.

In particular, agrarians started harvesting corn. As of the reporting date, Ukraine harvested 13 thsd tonnes of the grain throughout 4 thsd ha. The average yield reached 3.59 t/ha.

Also, Ukraine harvested 74 thsd tonnes of buckwheat throughout 56 thsd ha (38%). The average yield totaled 1.32 t/ha. Agrarians harvested millet throughout 53 thsd ha (51%). The production volumes totaled 96 thsd tonnes, with the yield of 1.83 t/ha.

Agricultural enterprises of Ukraine harvested 114 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed throughout 62 thsd ha, with the average yield of 1.83 t/ha. The forecast of sunflower areas total 5.9 mln ha.

Ukraine started harvesting soybeans. Six oblasts (Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi) harvested 10 thsd tonnes of the oilseed throughout the areas of 5 thsd ha, with the average yield of 2.1 t/ha.

Also, agrarians planted winter rapeseed throughout 456 thsd ha, or 63% of the planned areas (in 2015 — 258 thsd ha).

Ukrainian agrarians prepared the soil for winter grains harvesting throughout 6.214 mln ha (77%).
