Russia: Ministry of Agriculture lowered its grain harvest forecast to 113 mln tonnes

In the current year, the general grain harvest in Russia this year will not exceed 113 mln tonnes in clean weight, forecasted the Director of the Department of plant growing, chemicalization and plant protection at the Ministry of Agriculture, Petr Chekmarev within frames of the conference Russian Crop Production-2016/2017.

The Ministry lowered the forecast of maximum harvest volumes from 116 mln tonnes to 113 mln tonnes. Until ending of the harvesting campaign, agrarians will manage to produce 10 mln tonnes of corn, 700 thsd tonnes of rice, nearly 1 mln tonnes of wheat. Thus, the production volumes will reach 118-120 mln tonnes of grains and pulses, but taking into account the average loss allowance at 5.5%, the harvest volumes will total 110-113 mln tonnes in clean weight, the official explained.

At the same time, P.Chekmarev added that the Ministry increased the forecast of wheat production in the current year to 71 mln tonnes, against 68 mln tonnes expected in August.
