In 2016, the general harvest of milling wheat (3- and 4-grades) in Russia will total nearly 56.4 mln tonnes, against 49.5 mln tonnes last year, declared the Deputy Director of the strategic management department at Rusagrotrans CJSC, Igor Pavensky on October 6.

At the same time, he specified that the reporting growth will take place despite the forecasted decline of the share of 3-grade wheat, and increasing of the share of feed wheat. But such trend is a common factor in terms of record harvest volumes.

According to Rusagrotrans estimations, the share of 3-grade wheat in the general production volumes of wheat will total not less than 25%, whereas in 2015 the figure totaled 36%. Generally, in the current year the harvest of Russian 3-grade wheat will decline by 4.2 mln tonnes, to almost 18.1 mln tonnes. While the general harvest of wheat will reach 72.2 mln tonnes, forecasted I.Pavensky.

At the same time, the share of 4-grade milling wheat will reach the record level - nearly 53%, against 44% last year, while its harvest volumes will increase by 11 mln tonnes to the record level of 38.3 mln tonnes.

Also, the expert forecasted that the share of feed wheat will total nearly 25%, against 20% last year, and in absolute terms its harvest volumes will increase by 3.6 mln tonnes to 15.9 mln tonnes.

But Russia will not face the deficit of high-quality wheat volumes. Despite the decline of 3-grade wheat harvest volumes, they are enough to meet all domestic needs and format the required export supplies. In particular, the country will use nearly 11 mln tonnes from the forecasted 18.1 mln tonnes for production of flour, and nearly 6 mln tonnes - for export purposes. Moreover, Russia will traditionally use the record harvest volumes of 4-grade wheat for food purposes and exports, said I.Pavensky.
