Ukraine: in January-August, the foreign trade deficit in goods increased - State Statistics Service

In January-August period of 2016, the foreign trade deficit in goods in Ukraine totaled 1.465 bln USD, against 548.5 mln USD of the proficit in the same period last year, reported the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In particular, in January-August the exports of commodities from Ukraine totaled 22.719 bln USD, down 9% compared with the same period in 2015. The import volumes of goods to Ukraine totaled 24.184 bln USD (down 0.9%). The export-import coverage ratio reached 0.94 (in January-August of 2015 – 1.02). Ukraine provided foreign trade operations with partners from 219 countries.

In the first 8 months of 2016, the volume of Ukrainian commodities exports to the EU increased by 4.4% compared with the same period in 2015 - to 8.601 bln USD, which totaled 37.9% of the general export flow. The imports of EU commodities increased by 6.6% - to 10.617 bln USD, or 43.9% of the general purchased volumes.

The export volumes of goods to Russia decreased by 30% - to 2.226 bln USD, the imports – down 36.8%, to 3.102 bln USD.
