In 2016/17 MY, Russia can export 38-40 mln tonnes of grains, declared the President of the Russian Grain Union, Arkady Zlochevsky on October 26.

At the same time, he noted that to date the situation with export shipments is rather tense. Since July 1, Russia managed to export nearly 12 mln tonnes of grains, down 4% compared with the same period last season. But A.Zlochevsky expects that Russia will exceed the last year figures in the spring.

Also, the President of the Russian Grain Union said that Russia demonstrates increasing of wheat export volumes, at the same time the shipment volumes of barley and corn somewhat reduced. In particular, the exports of wheat increased 6% compared with last season. Russia reached such volumes, due to removal of the export duties on wheat. Zeroing of the export duties was a good positive thing that rocks the market, but the measure was not timely.

Importers increased the demand for wheat, but shipments of the purchased cargoes will start in 1.5-2 months only. Russia zeroed the duties since September 23, therefore the process will develop since mid-November 2016, but it is rather complicated weather period - off-season period, concluded A.Zlochevsky.
