In 2016, Russia faced significant increasing of the qualitative indicators of rye compared with last year, declared the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) on October 28.

The share of milling rye in the current year harvest increased by 3.77% compared with last year. At the same time, the share of 1-grade rye increased to 17.89%, against 7.38%.

According to monitoring of rye quality in 12 regions of Russia, the average content of ergot varies within the average level of two previous years, which is characterized as rather positive trend.  But the final results of the rye harvest monitoring in 2016 will be announced in late November, informed the press-service of Rosselkhoznadzor.
