Russian Grain Union takes a stand in favor of cancellation of the ban for cultivation of the registered genetically modified grains in the Russian Federation, declared the President of Russian Grain Union, Arkadiy Zlochevskiy on December 2.

According to him, the ban for such crop varieties cultivation does not cover its import and usage in the country. Therefore, the ban does not support the state policy for import substitution, said A.Zlochevskiy.

According to him, Russia stimulates the imports of GM products, while the domestic market does not develop the reporting industry. At the same time, some Russian agrarians realize illegal planting of GM crops.

A.Zlochevskiy proposed to allow planting of GM crops in Russia, but in terms of their compulsory registration, and only in certain regions.
