According to APK-Inform analysts, in 2016/17 MY the export potential of Ukrainian feed corn total nearly 18 mln tonnes, up 9% compared with the last season figures. At the same time, in October 2016 Ukraine exported over 1.35 mln tonnes of corn, which became the absolute record for the reporting month.
But due to the record global production of corn, as well as rather difficult agro-climatic conditions during the harvesting campaign, and possible problems with the qualitative indices of the grain, some Ukrainian experts challenge the possibility of complete realization of the export potential of Ukrainian corn.
So, the co-owner / broker at the company Atria Brokers, Yan Kozyritsky noted that the issue of domestic logistics, in particular the deficit of rail cars for grain transportation to the ports, is the major problem in realization of the Ukrainian corn export potential.
Realization of the export potential is a very complex issue, which would not be solved without settlement of the domestic transport problems. Market participants should not blame the global situation at all, added Ya.Kozyritsky.
