Ukraine: grain harvest in standard weight to reach 64 mln tonnes – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

According to operative data, in 2016 the production of grains and pulses in Ukraine will reach 64.2 mln tonnes in standard weight, an increase of 4 mln tonnes compared with 2015, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on December 9.

According to the announcement, the average yield of grains and pulses is estimated at 4.48 t/ha (up 0.37 t/ha compared with the level of 2015).

In particular, the estimation of wheat harvest in standard weight totals 26.1 mln tonnes (down 435 thsd tonnes) with the average yield at 4.2 t/ha (up 0.32 t/ha), corn - 26.1 mln tonnes (up 2.8 mln tonnes) with the average yield at 6.15 t/ha (up 0.44 t/ha), barley - 9.5 mln tonnes (up 1.2 mln tonnes) with the yield at 3.31 t/ha (up 0.35 t/ha), rye - 395 thsd tonnes (up 21.6 thsd tonnes) with the average yield at 2.77 t/ha (up 0.18 t/ha), oats. - 510.1 thsd tonnes (up 21.6 thsd tonnes) with the average yield at 2.46 t/ha (up 0.14 t/ha), buckwheat - 183.3 thsd tonnes (up 55.2 thsd tonnes) with the average yield at 1.23 t/ha (up 0.22 t/ha), millet - 189.1 thsd tonnes (down 24,2 thsd tonnes) with the yield at 1.8 t/ha (down 0.09 t/ha), rice - 68.9 thsd tonnes (up 6.4 thsd tonnes) with the average yield at 5.65 t/ha (up 0.31 t/ha).

As for industrial crops, the harvest of sunflower seed also increased to 12.9 mln tonnes (up 2.8 mln tonnes), soybeans - to 4.1 mln tonnes (up 219 thsd tonnes), and sugar beets - to 13.2 mln tonnes (up 2.8 mln tonnes). At the same, the production volumes of rapeseed lowered compared with last year - 1.2 mln tonnes (down 581 thsd tonnes).
