In the first half of 2016/17 MY (July-December), Russia exported nearly 587 thsd tonnes of grains to the ASEAN countries (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), an increase of 2 times compared with the same period last season, declared the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) on January 9.

In particular, wheat formed 80% of the exported grain volumes in the above-mentioned direction - 467 thsd tonnes, corn - 20%, or 118 thsd tonnes.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in the reporting period Indonesia became the main country-importer of Russian grains in the region, and purchased 252.3 thsd tonnes of wheat, against 233.5 thsd tonnes in the first half of 2015/16 MY.

Also, Vietnam imported 66 thsd tonnes of wheat and 188.3 thsd tonnes of corn, Thailand - 63 thsd tonnes of wheat, and the Philippines - 16.5 thsd tonnes of wheat. At the same time, last season Russia did not realize any grain shipments to the reporting countries.

In addition, Russia supplied 68.3 thsd tonnes of wheat to Malaysia, while during 6 months of the previous season the figure totaled 44 thsd tonnes only.
