Changes of the seasonal dynamics of grain exports became one of the features of 2016/17 MY in Russia. The export volumes will be distributed throughout the season more or less proportionally, declared the Director of the analytical center SovEcon, Andrei Sizov.

Traditionally, in previous years Russia exported most harvested volumes in the first half of the agricultural year. For example, Russia usually supplied nearly 60-70% of the general wheat exports on foreign markets in the first 4 months of the season, but it is obvious that in 2016/17 MY the situation will change, said the expert.

Rather good positions of Russian agricultural producers in the current season, who do not plan to immediately sell all available grain stocks, became the main reason for such trend development, explained A.Sizov.

According to him, the trend can turn to regularity in the following years, but it depends on two factors. The first one is the positions of Russian agricultural producers. If they are good, agrarians will be able to keep their grain stock and expect for a growth of prices in future. The second factor is the global supply-demand balance. For example, in the current season grain buyers do not hurry to purchase grains in the first half of the season, due to the global dynamics of grain supply, and wait for more favorable price changes in the second half of the season.
