Kazakhstan plans to focus on the exports of crop by-products – President

Kazakhstan should provide transition of the agricultural industry from raw materials production to production and exports of high-quality processed products, declared the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev on January 31.

The President charged the Government to ensure increasing of the exports of food commodities by 40% by 2021 through diversification of agricultural goods production.

Also, N.Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan should become a so-called "bread basket" for grain production for the entire Eurasian continent. The President instructed the Government to reconsider the principles of subsidies allocation, and launch the mechanism of products insurance. In addition, he stressed that within 5 years Kazakhstan is required to create market conditions for pooling of more than 500 thsd agricultural households and small farmers into cooperatives.

According to him, it is necessary to increase the efficiency of land areas usage. In 5 years, Kazakhstan has to increase the irrigated land areas by 40%, to 2 mln ha.
