In 2016, Ukrainian agricultural exports exceeded 15 bln USD – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

According to the State Statistics Service, in 2016 Ukraine exported agricultural products at the sum of 15.2 bln USD, an increase of 4 bln USD compared with the index for 2015, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on February 16. Also, the share of agrarian products in the general national exports totaled 42%.

In particular, the supplies of fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin demonstrated the most significant increase compared with the previous year – up 20%. The reporting type of commodities reached nearly 4 bln USD. Generally, plant growing products formed over 8 bln USD in the general exports of Ukrainian agricultural products, including the supplies of grain crops at 6 bln USD.

At the same time, Ukraine exported food preparations at 2.45 bln USD, live animals and animal products - at 0.78 bln USD.

Also, in 2016 Ukraine imported agricultural products at 3.89 bln USD, up 0.59 bln USD compared with the index for 2015. In particular, the imports of live animals and animal products reached 0.62 bln USD, plant growing products – 1.3 bln USD, fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin – 0.25 bln USD, and food preparations – 1.7 bln USD.

As a result, in 2016 the balance of foreign trade with agricultural products totaled +11.4 bln USD.
